KIMI YOUNG
ABOUT
Kimi Young is a dancer, teacher and choreographer based in Blenheim, New Zealand.
Kimi graduated with an Honours in Dance Studies from the University of Auckland in 2013 and spent her final undergraduate year at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey. She has worked with choreographers Neil Ieremia (Black Grace), Doug Varone (Doug Varone and dancers), Jack Gray, and has performed a solo piece she choreographed- 'The H word', in New York City.
She is continuing her dance education by studying online under Jaja Vankova’s dance program R.U.R., and is currently a part of a Krump dance family: 12s, a hip hop and street dance collective: Projekt team, a performing arts collective: Bcre8ve, and leads a dance crew: Yadah.
Kimi has a passion for helping unlock others potential, and help build into the next generation, and loves that dance is the vehicle in which she can do this to the best of her ability. Kimi regularly teaches, facilitates workshops and competes at street dance competitions.
Forever a student, Kimi hopes to remain versatile, humble, and educated throughout her time within dance. Kimi continues to explore her individual voice as a dance artist by seeking opportunity to learn, as well as the opportunity to teach others.
